We are pleased to offer you this beautifully restored bakdekker. As befits a true classic, you are buying a piece of nautical history, a life story; The Bromo was built in 1932 to a design by Ir. J. Loeff - co-founder of the Waterkampioen - at G. de vries Lentsch in Amsterdam. The penultimate owners have researched and corresponded extensively and managed to trace the intervening history. The ‘BROMO’ was extensively restored in the years 1992 - 2008, from a completely new skin to completely new panelling, from a new engine to new electrics. Still, it is the original details that give the yacht her charm and élan; the lines speak for themselves; slender and elegant and therefore with wonderful sailing behaviour. All round, the finishing is done to perfection; from the toilet to the lights next to the transom, from the original rocker switches on solid mahogany light fittings. The complete restoration is of a rare high standard and is accompanied by photos and documents. In 1992, the Bromo was stripped down to her ribs, fitted with new skin in Walsoorden (Zeeuws-Vlaanderen) in the following years, completely sandblasted in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel and then put in a two-component paint system, the base thickness of which was 640mu. The Caterpillar engine was fitted by specialists in Papendrecht. The engine compartment was fully fitted with tear plates and well insulated. Preparations were also made in Papendrecht for all electricity to serve the generator, inverter, steering and modern equipment such as radar, plotter, GPS, boiler and kitchen equipment, such as fridge and cooker. The 10kVA Lombardini generator provides sufficient capacity for a washing machine and/or microwave oven, if required. The panelling was done at level by skilled carpenters in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. The finish of beautiful mahogany and ebony details, dovetail joints and lacquer work give the look of similar vessels from the 1930s in the last century. The toilet - a Baby Blake - is located in a separate washroom and there is a separate shower room in the tip of the yacht. Naturally, the yacht is equipped with a holding tank. The entire yacht has a floor of 200-year-old oak laid in a parquet motif, in which the propellers are concealed with wood props. Aft is the captain's cabin, with a generously sized bed with two separate mattresses and particularly ample storage space. The settee in the bow can be converted into a double berth at will. On deck, the beautiful teak deck catches the eye, and the cuckoo and hatch on the foredeck are custom-built following the example of vessels of the time. The wiring for the radar is ingeniously concealed in the railing on the roof of the wheelhouse. The Bromo was the subject of an article in the watersports magazine De Waterkampioen and we will send it to you on request. If you are interested, we would like to invite you for a viewing in Elburg. For questions and/or to make an appointment, you are welcome 7 days a week at Elburg Yachting.
